September is National Sewing Month. The art of sewing has never waned, with people of all generations taking up the hobby. And with the numerous television shows pertaining to fashion design, sewing is only going to continue to be a mainstay.
People take up the hobby for many reasons, among them cost savings, fashion, fun, relaxation, artistic expression, custom needs and much more. So how do you target advertisers and consumers in this industry?
Ad Promotion Ideas:
- Create a signature ad featuring individuals or shops that will do one/any of the following: mend/repair clothes, do alterations, create kids items like hair bows and toys, create unique upcycled items such as purses from coffee bean bags, create clothes with unique styles or eco-friendly fabrics, etc.
- Create a directory of sewing instructors and ways to learn to sew
- Create a sponsored series of free sewing patterns to extend advertiser options, such as dentist office sponsoring a tooth fairy pillow pattern or any business supporting patterns for blankets and items to be donated to those in need
- Expand to include other “fiber arts” like knitting, crocheting, weaving, etc.
