September 20 is America’s Day for Kids. National Kids Day was created in 1994 by KidsPeace, a 125-year-old national children’s crisis charity, to encourage adults to spend more meaningful time with children. According to Boys and Girls Club of America, "quality time can help kids develop a positive self-image and a sense of belonging, purpose and usefulness."

Ad/Promotion Ideas:
• Look for businesses with hands-on activities for children and encourage them to advertise during September.

• Find out if there are any carnivals or street festivals in your area. If so, stress how advertisers (vendors at the event or sponsors of the event) with kid-friendly products/services could reach more people with a Day for Kids advertisement.

• Create a special section highlighting how families can spend more time together.

Businesses to Contact:
• Museums, science activity centers, libraries
• Arts and crafts stores (host craft nights), make your own “something” stores (pottery, jewelry, etc.)
• Apple orchards, farms with pick-your-own produce
• Park districts, Chambers of Commerce, local government
• Pools, sports facilities
• Amusement parks
• Theaters, movie theaters, dance companies
