June is Sports America Kids Month. Sports have always been a prevalent part of American society. Starting at an early age, many children look to get into sports—to which the Mayo Clinic offers this advice, “If several sports are available in your community, allow your [children] to sample a range of activities before settling on one or two.” Use your publication as an opportunity to promote all things sports to help parents and kids find the right sport for them.

Ad/Promotion Ideas:
• Design an ad series promoting a different sport each week sponsored by a local team.
• Run a special section with stories and ads for all summer sports options.
• Include a sponsored ad series featuring kids’ funniest sports stories.
• Create a season-long sponsored ad series providing the scores of Little League games.

Businesses to Contact:
• Sporting goods stores
• Recreation centers
• Park districts
• Kids’ sports clubs
• Professional sports teams
• School sports teams or clubs
• College athletics
• Kids’ clothing stores
• Businesses that sponsor kids’ sports teams
