Hurricane Season kicks off on June 1.

If you’re not at-risk for a hurricane, many of these ideas can still apply for the natural disasters in your area such as flooding, forest fires, tornadoes, earthquakes etc.

Forecasters at Colorado State University’s Tropical Meteorology Project predict a busier hurricane season for 2010.

Ad/Promotion Ideas:
  • Use a signature ad to help educate the community.
  • Create an advertising section featuring emergency numbers, safety tips, or a list of preparedness kit items alongside businesses offering these products or services.
  • Publish an evacuation route map featuring ads from businesses along the route including gas stations, hotels, boarding kennels, etc.
  • Create a special section focused on preparing the home for hurricane season. Include home modifications and repairs that can weather a storm.
  • Design a signature ad for insurance providers and the different types of coverage that may be needed.
  • Families should have an evacuation plan for their pets too. Design a signature ad for pet boarding kennels, vet offices, and pet friendly hotels.
