December 4 is National Cookie Day. “In 2007, Americans spent about three billion dollars on cookies,” according to Snack Food and Wholesale Bakery, a magazine which covers current business and consumer trends impacting the bakery and snack food market. National Cookie Day can be celebrated and enjoyed by purchasing cookies in a store or bakery, or making them at home. With Christmas right around the corner, now is a great time for businesses to advertise their cookies and baking ingredients.
Ad/Promotion Ideas:
• Create a sponsored ad series featuring a new cookie recipe each week for the whole month of December.
• Have readers send in their favorite cookie recipe, and hold a contest to see who the winner is.
• Suggest an in-store drawing for a cookie gift basket using products from the store. Customers are eligible with any purchase. Promote the contest with an ad in your paper.
