It’s sneezin’ season!
If your runny nose and itchy eyes aren’t indication enough, May is officially the start of allergy season, and also National Asthma and Allergy Month.
Allergies are the 5th leading chronic disease in the U.S. among all ages, and the 3rd most common chronic disease among children under 18 years old. According to the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, an estimated 50 million Americans suffer from all types of allergies (1 in 5 Americans) including indoor/outdoor, food & drug, latex, insect, skin and eye allergies. The asthma statistics are just as daunting. Approximately 34.1 million Americans have been diagnosed with asthma by a health professional during their lifetime, and it is estimated that the number of people with asthma will grow by more than 100 million by 2025. In addition, about 70% of asthmatics also have allergies.
Take this month to bring awareness, education and assistance to those who suffer from
allergies and asthma.
