Little League Baseball Kicks Off in June

June 9 through 14 is National Little League Baseball Week. President John F. Kennedy founded this week in 1961 to encourage youth to maintain vigor and vitality through baseball. Kids, of course, aren’t the only ones who enjoy Little League—parents and volunteers flock to baseball diamonds all summer long to support their children or local teams, creating a bigger target market for advertising.

Ad Campaign/Promotion Ideas:
• Encourage businesses with sports-related merchandise to advertise throughout the week. Find out if they are having any special promotions/sales this week and help them advertise those.

• Work with businesses to sponsor schedules for upcoming baseball or softball tournaments/games, Team of the Week, Player of the Week, etc.

• Partner with the local Little League team to produce a special section promoting Little League. Work with them on a list of advertisers including their suppliers and team sponsors as well as parents’ employers.

Businesses to contact:
• Sports-themed restaurants
• Sporting goods stores
• Screen printing/embroidery stores
• Park districts
• Ice cream shops, candy stores
• Field maintenance/upkeep services
• Car dealers• Radio stations
• Trophy shops
• Team sponsors
