National Drive-Thru Day

National Drive-Thru Day is July 24. The first drive-thru appeared in 1951 at a Jack-in-the-Box restaurant in San Diego. Since then, the idea has taken off and includes everything from drive-thru restaurants to church services. As people spend more time in their cars, it is great for drive-thru businesses to advertise the convenience they offer to people on the go.

Ad Campaigns/Promotional Ideas:
• Look for drive-thrus that have just opened or are about to open, and help them advertise their grand opening.
• Find out if drive-thrus have any special incentives for using their services. If so, help them advertise them.
• Host a contest for the fastest drive-thru, most courteous, easiest to maneuver, etc. Have businesses advertise, which would be the ballot per-say, and then readers vote. The winning business could win a free ad.

Businesses to Contact:
• Restaurants, coffee shops, ice cream shops, bakeries
• Oil change/auto repair stores, car washes
• Photo labs
• Pharmacies
• Tourist sites (that require driving thru)
• Dry cleaners
• Banks/credit unions
• Liquor stores
