February is National Care about Your Indoor Air Month. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) says levels of indoor air pollution can be two to five times higher than outdoor air pollution levels. They rank poor indoor air quality to be in the top five environmental risks to public health. However, there are dozens of ways for the average person to improve indoor air quality that are neither expensive nor time consuming. Show local businesses how they can promote their products to help.

Ad/Promotion Ideas:
• Create a special section highlighting the top ten ways to improve indoor air quality, common misconceptions about indoor pollutants or toxins, and more.
• Design a signature ad for companies who provide services or products that improve air quality in our homes or workplaces.
• Create a contest sponsored by local businesses that would reward readers with portable air purifiers, no or low-VOC paint, etc.

Businesses to Contact:
• Carpet cleaning services
• Flooring stores (replacing carpets with hard surfaces)
• Pet grooming/vets (addressing pet dander and hair allergies)
• Doctors offices (allergy and asthma treatment)
• Hardware stores
• Vacuum dealers
• Paint stores
• HVAC services
• Environmentally aware builders and contractors
